Nutrition website

New website for affordable and nutritious recipes

Good Shepherd Food Bank, Maine’s largest hunger relief organization, is launching NutritionForME.org, a one-stop online resource for finding simple, nutritious, and easy-to-prepare recipes using everyday ingredients.

Created by the Food Bank’s nutrition and education team, the site allows users to search through hundreds of recipes to see what they can do with items in their pantries, cupboards and refrigerators. Many recipes include ingredients distributed by the Food Bank’s network of over 500 partner organizations.

The site is a valuable resource of meal ideas, including featured seasonal dishes that spin on the homepage. Some recipes offer how-to videos, and all have nutrition labels to help users make the best possible choices for their health and that of their family. On the recipe page, there are options for a printable version of the recipe and sharing the recipe on social media sites.

Users interested in submitting an affordable and easy-to-prepare recipe can click the “Suggest Recipe” button on the site and fill in the necessary information for submission. The food bank is thrilled to have the help of the community to build this much-needed resource for healthy cooking on a tight budget.

“NutritionForMe.org is an essential resource to help increase access to healthy food in our state. We know nutrition education is key to reducing the impact of hunger on the lives of our neighbors,” said Kristen Miale, President of Good Shepherd Food Bank The Food Bank’s campaign to end hunger in Maine aims to ensure that all Maineans have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, when and where they need it, by 2025.
