GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – As cases of the Omicron variant increase across the country, many people are trying to find ways to stay healthy as the New Year approaches. A local business stressed the importance of nutrition and exercise to help boost your immune system.
“One of the most important things to do right now is take care of your body. Put on healthy, nutritious food, maybe drive a bit more to the grocery store rather than stopping at fast food, and make sure you’re outside to relocate, ”said Ariana Niehaus, owner from the Uptown Nutrition store.
Ariana Niehaus is the owner of Uptown Nutrition. She says fresh fruits, vegetables, and vitamin C and zinc are the key ingredients for staying healthy.
Niehaus says, “Vitamin C is definitely a very important nutrient that your body needs in order to be able to fight anything. Make sure to incorporate zinc with vitamin C as well, because when you use zinc with vitamin C, your body absorbs vitamin C and uses it a little better as long as you use zinc along with it.
Niehaus not only stresses the importance of eating the right foods with the right nutrition, but also getting out and working out is the key to a healthy life.
“Because we can be outside and we can be far away and stay safe that way, so make sure that nutrition and getting your body moving every day outside can make a big difference. Making even the smallest differences in your daily life will keep everyone happy and healthy, ”Niehaus said.
If you plan to return to the gym, remember to follow CDC safety precautions such as wearing your mask, washing your hands, and staying six feet apart.
