Cynthia E. Armand, MD, is Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center and Director of Fellowships at the Montefiore Headache Center. She received her BA in Neuroscience and Behavior from Wesleyan University and an MD from the University of Connecticut. She completed her neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center and continued as a headache researcher at Montefiore Headache Center. Dr Armand is currently a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the American Headache Society (AHS) and the founding board of the Society of Haitian Neuroscientists and is currently its vice-president. She is the current web editor of JAMA Neurology and the host of Interviews with the authors of JAMA Neurology Podcast. Her work with AHS includes serving as a past chair of the Special Interest Section of Underserved Populations in Headaches, serving on the Society’s Membership, Guidelines and Electronic Media committees, as well as active participation. the curriculum development of the Headache Resident Education Program. She is the co-chair of the AHS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Working Group. She was awarded the 2016 Frontiers in Headache Research Fellowship for her work on the special senses of migraine reported on social media and was named an Emerging Leader in Headache Medicine by the AHS in 2018. She is a recent graduate. from the AAN Diversity Leadership Program class. of 2020. Dr. Armand is passionate about neurology and health news with a keen interest in patient education, diversity and equity in health care and headache disorders, as well as social media as a valuable vehicle for empowerment and patient awareness.
