Exploring the Listing Framework

Movable Type 5.1 introduced the Listing Framework in 2011, and I’ve wanted to share a more in-depth view of it ever since. Finally, I created a short video to show it off as well as my More Listing Framework Columns plugin.
Don’t want to watch, and curious why I would talk about a 5-1/2 year old feature? Simply, because it’s still relevant. The Listing Framework is the “manage…” screens, like Manage Entries and Manage Assets, as well as similar screens like the Activity Log. The Listing Framework offers the ability to sort and filter data to find the entries you want. The Listing Framework will also let you save filters and share those filters with other users, so you can be sure everyone is seeing the same thing. Add in the More listing Framework Columns and you can sort and filter on any column or piece of data. (Compare this to other CMS tools, where you can sort or filter on only some data, and where you also can’t save or share filters.) The Listing Framework is still a really compelling feature of Movable Type.
